PL/SQL Table Update not working

PL/SQL Table Update not working

(OP)
Need Help!

I have two Oracle 9i tables. Table "Reservations" contains a row that I want to update using the contents from
table "Docrelation". When I execute the SQL statements a successful row update message is returned back. But when I view the "Reservation" table contents I do not see the value from "Docrelation". Here are the table particulars:

Table> Reservation contents

RESERVATION_PK NUMBER(10), *primary key
RESV_RESCOMMENT NUMBER(10)

The current row information from "Reservation" contains the following values:

RESERVATION_PK = 500
RESV_RESCOMMENT = nulls

Table> Docrelation contents

DOCRELATION_PK NUMBER(10), *primary key
DOCPARENTNAME VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
DOCPARENT NUMBER(10),
DOCCHILDNAME VARCHAR2(30 BYTE),
DOCCHILD NUMBER(10)

The row information from table "Docrelation" contains these values
DOCRELATION_PK = 0001
DOCPARENTNAME = "RESCOMMENT"
DOCPARENT = 500
DOCCHILDNAME = "Test"
DOCCHILD = 100

Here is the update SQL code I am trying to test:

update prismr.reservation s
set s.resv_rescomment_fk =
(select r.docparent
from prismt.docrelation r
where s.reservation_pk = r.docparent and
r.docparentname = 'RESCOMMENT');
commit;

I will appreciate someone help in this matter.

Regards

RE: PL/SQL Table Update not working

does somethiing like this work:

update prismr.reservation s
INNER JOIN prismt.docrelation r
ON s.reservation_pk = r.docparent
set s.resv_rescomment_fk =
(select docparent
from prismt.docrelation
where docparentname = 'RESCOMMENT');
commit;
