make sure you don't have multiple copies of pdoxusrs.net
on your server.

Does this happen when 1st person is using Paradox or when the 2nd user tries to use Paradox?

Do you have another version of Paradox beside 4.5 running?

You are running Pdox 4.5 DOS, right?

Have you installed Pdox on local drive and put the data on the network drive? Try open a table and see what happened.

I used to run huge database using Pdox 4.5 and Netware 3.x and I can't remember having this problem. Unless there is something strange with netware 5, you should be able to run this.

Check to make sure Paradox is installed and configured for network access.

If it was running 5 days ago, and suddenly it dies. 3 things could have happened.
1. Bad data.
2. Something was changed in the application.
3. Something was changed in the network environment.

If none of the above applied, maybe it's time to hire someone to take a look at it.

Has the data volume increased substantially?

Run Tutility to make sure all tables are not corrupted.

The message about "controlled by older version that the pdoxusrs.net" is usually a pretty clear statement that something is wrong with the locking.

Paradox creates a pair of .LCK files (Pdoxusrs and Paradox) in each directory that is being used (as tables are viewed, working directory set etc).  The Paradox.lck file is for v3.5 (backward compatibility).  I'm guessing that there may be a rogue Paradox.LCK lying around.

Next time all your users are out of Paradox, search for .LCK files - there should be none so if there are any, delete then.  The PDoxUsrs.NET file should only exist in one place, but you've sorted that.

Hope it helps

Phil
