Ellipse Version 5.2.3.4

Problem:
The same WO# has a record in MSF740 with different Equip No# attached.  In first example, the MSO620 shows the WO assigned to LV086.  But there is a record in both work group 1641 (DT023) and 1611 (LV086)for the task for the equipment number shown.

See example:
WG    WG Date   Run #   WO      Equip   Std Job

Has this happened to anyone else?  These are all 9000 series tasks.

Donna,

I have seen this problem a couple of times.  Here is what I tracked down as the probelms:

1)  Users changed the equipemnt number on the work order through MSQ620

2)  Same work order numbers from different districts.

Did this happen in version 4.1 or is this new since 5.2.3?

Hi Donna,

If I understand the question correctly then this is not a problem it is standard functionality.

MIMS (ELLIPSE) programs tasks, it does not program work orders as such. Therefore it could be that the Standard Job that you are using as the work order template for this task is one that contains a task in a different work group.

MIMS referes to these tasks as "foreign". Therefore when you run the MSB740 program it commits this task within the relevent scheduling period of the "foreign" workgroup.

This is an extremely useful function for allowing work to be programmed by the 9000 series, therefore including the supression function, within two (or more) different workgroups.

Have a look at the following to verify this:

In MSQ740 is there a task number for the work order within the period that has been commited? If not then this is the work order header only and if the task is not present it will could be that it has been created with another work group assigned to it.

OR... are there two different tasks for the same work order? (With diferent work groups)

If I have read the question incorrectly please let me know as there are a number of other potential causes for this situation in my experience.

Cheers

Oz...

Oz,

Have another look at the data:  the same work order appears for two separate items of equipment as well.  As you are aware, regardless of the number of tasks and work groups, there can only be ONE item of equipment attached to the work order.

Fair statement, I didnt actually note that the first time I looked. Thanks..
