front page nav bars disappear when I publish

Hi all. I have a small web (maybe 25 pages)that I just took over for a local non-profit. Started by taking the IMPORTING the whole thing to MY computer so I could work local, fix any problems, and then just publish up.

over the weekend I had all ready to go and published...only to find that the nav bar (which was in shared border) on the default.htm DISAPPEARED when I published. So a visitor would get this nice front page, but could not GO anywhere from there.

Everything LOOKS fine and works PERFECTLY on my home machine.  I publshed up 4-5 times and got the same thing. I finally went in "live" and added a basic nav bar to the page but am now a bit nervous about making changes since what I see doesn't seem to be what I get.

suggestons????

When you puiblished, did you "Publish All Pages" instead of just changed pages. I've had no problem with FP 2000.

Yes, there was a lot of junk on the initial site that I wanted to clear out so I did it carefully on my home machine, made sure all still worked, and published all pages with instructins to wipe out all that was there.

the site WORKS now (www.tauntoneagles.com) but I'm was leery of doing much in the way of making changes till I figure out what's going wrong.

If you have frontpage extensions on the host open the web live and publish to your hard drive that is best way of 'getting' a site and making sure all pages are there.. not all pages may be there when you have finished
importing.

<meta name="Microsoft Border" content="b">

This is in your code.. you only have the bottom border enabled.. you need tb for the top and bottom or l for left.

tlb for all three

I would go live on the server and clear out the whole site first then publish using file | Publish | all files  do not forget to recalculate hyperlinks first. Tools | Recalculate Hyperlinks

let me know if you need further help.

hi and thanks. when I FIRST put it up it had top border enabled also but simply wouldn't show it after published, although it was ok on my own computer.

at this point i'm thinking leave well enough alone as it seems to navigate ok.

thanks for the tips.

In that case.. sign up on a free site and use it for testing before uploading to your 'proper' site. I do this when I'm helping people before they move their fixed pages to their sites.

You can find a listing of such free fp extentioned hosts on my site (two pages) here.
