Not quite 100 know but seems to be the best place for this..

Anyways, I am looking for some form of software/Hardware inventory software. Cheap is good (free is better). I don't need a lot of advanced features, just poll the machines for hardware and software and dump results into a database. Then I can check for any unwanted software and know what I have hardware wise.

Any thoughts?

Its free can be run from a login script without the need toinstall software on the client machine. Can log to a database and will report just about any info you want regarding hardware and software.

Well worth a look.
