I have a client that forgot the power-on password for his thinkpad 701 2630 IBM.
I am not used to working with notebooks
and I am unsure of the procedure for
cancelling the password. I normally just
short out the cmos, but this is much different than the PC's I work on.

Off the top of my head i wouldnt know, but best places to look are in the User manual, or online at the manufactuers website(copanies like Dell will have full specification documentations online)

Your laptop may have a user replaceable CMOS battery. Check your manual and unplug the battery. You may need to leave it unplugged for quite awhile.

RacerX, we're talking about the comptuer's password, not Window's password.
