Can I trust bit operations in Erlang?

Can I trust bit operations in Erlang?

(OP)

Hi,

Can bit operations be trusted when Erlang interacts with C????

What I am afraid of is that when I "AND" two numbers they can be of different type and I get something like
this:

0000 0000 0100 0110 A
xxxx xxxx 0001 0000 B

0010 0000 0000 0000 A band B

The x's are any random number which comes from the different typing.

I know how I can get by this problem ( (A rem 256) band (B rem 256)), so that is not my question.

Tore
