DCM very slow

We have a developer using DCOM and he complains that it is very slow and loses connection.

I did a continous ping and have a 100% network connection but the DCOM will just suddenly lose connection or not connect at all.

According to him DCOM cannot afford to lose oe tiny connection if it does, it stops working.

What can be happening?.
