Rephrasing my question on IDMS triggers

Hi,
Let's us say a CICS transaction is updating a record in the idms database using a modify command. Now the idms d/b recivies a command to do an modify. Once the modify has been done  is there any way by which i can export the modified data into a dummy table or file.

PS: I do not want to write code to do the same in the CICS program

Thanks
Viswa

Hi Viswa,

Look at database procedures.  These can be coded/defined in the schema or subschema for the record type you are modifying to execute before or after the modify.

I have never myself been involved with them so I cannot give you any more detailed help.

Hi Viswa,  Writing IDMS procedures is hard.  May I suggest an alternative solution.  Why not have a "flag" indicator to identify the record as having been modified, and then have a batch program sweep the database area to read those falgged records and write them to an output file.
