I have a conexant HCF modem (whose drivers are fine), in a baby AT that's running win98. my first problem was that the modem wouldn't tone dial. took me ages to realise I could pulse dial and that worked fine everything was fine until today. When i try to connect now i get as far as - 'dialing...'- the modem 'lifts' the imaginary handset and then drops it again immediately. Can anyone please tell me what's goin' on? I'm stressed out man ;(

Assuming that your line is OK and has dial tone, you might try turning off the "wait for dial tone" option to see if that helps.

thanx - thats something I haven't tried but the bloke went and bought a new modem and everything seems to be ok. I guess it was a faulty device. :)
