alias wavefront market

(OP)
Hi all you people in the field
I thinking of learning Alias wavefront " Design studio" so I can get into product design. This is a kind of a carrier switch as I already am an architect and constantly use 3dstudio.
can some one tell me what is the average pay-scale for someone who has training in a/w deisgn studio. I would really like to know before I make this big move and pay big bucks for the training I will be taking soon
Thanks
SVS

RE: alias wavefront market

I cant tell you an exact pay scale but i can tell you this. Alias|wavefront products are behind literally all the movies to win awards for special effects for two years now. Literally every car maker in the world uses their products and they are working side by side with macromedia to deliver the next level of product pushing over the internet. I hope that makes the Maya field a little  more appealing for ya.

P.S. Im also a Maya forum moderator over at popedeflash.com please stop by sometime.

RE: alias wavefront market

RE: alias wavefront market

Saddly, only the best guys over at ILM, Dreamworks, Lucas Arts and EA make the "hollywood" bucks. (Notice Disney is not on that list) The rest of us are a dime a dozen due to lack of expertise. There are really only and handfull of pro's with the backround and knowhow to challenge the current state of technology. Todays best games still have the worst models, meanwhile as movies get more and more believable, they are still production nightmares. If you get a regular job doing only 3D considor yourself lucky and expect 40+k a year. It's the rare individual who seeks to buck the curve that can write their own ticket.

RE: alias wavefront market

Your goind to be a pee-on for your first 5 years or so unless you display some markitable talent. Me thinks between 35-40/yr would be a modest start.
