Copy of whole Mimer environment

Copy of whole Mimer environment

(OP)
I want to copy a Mimer database from one Sun to another. A have made an online backup. Can I restore on the other server just by copying the dbf-files. Mimer is installed on both servers.

RE: Copy of whole Mimer environment

You can use the backup files as they are if you are happy with the contents of the database at the time of the backup (I assume you have taken an online backup of all databank files in your system).

If you use different filenames on the other computer you may have to perform ALTER DATABANK (or run UTIL in the case of system databanks) to tell Mimer about the change of location of the files.

Thanks,

I phoned the support and they gave me this tips:

Look into /etc/sqlhosts for database name and location.

Cd to that location

Remove or rename the databanks (empty installed files)

Add the databanks from other server (with information)

Upgrade databank with sdbgen -u <database name>

RE: Copy of whole Mimer environment

The command sdbgen -u upgrades a database. You only need to do that if you are taking the online backup in an older version (e.g. 8.2) and want to use them in a newer version (e.g. 9.1).

If you are using the same version you only need to copy the databank files.
