Hello everyone,

I do have a problem about customizing profiles in LS5. What I do want is to have specific users groups under specific instructors or administrators. My organization has a plenty of Areas and I want that each administrator can see only his employees not all the users of the organization. I don“t know how to get that by profiles. My idea is to have a Tech Area managed by a tech admin or instructor, but my problem is that I do have a plenty of different profiles.

Please if anyone has any information or has the same problem send me an answer.

Thanks in advance

We do exactly what you are looking for, and it works great.  Here's how to do what you are looking for:

Create a custom profile category called Location.

Turn profile matching on for that category.

Insert the values for the various locations into that profile category, and then assign each user to a location.

Assign your instructors to a given location.

With profile matching turned on, the instructor will only see those folks who match their location(s) as assigned in the profile.

Does that make sense?  Check the help files for info on profile matching...

Thanks a lot. I have doing fine with those advises.
My problem now is: How many profiles can i use to profile matching? What I do mean is that the profile matching works as a sum, not as "or", so if I want that some folks get in the same group not because they are equal at all.
I do have 10 user profile as my organization requieres.
Thanks any way.

You can profile match on as many profile categories that you like.

You can also assign a user to multiple profile values within a category.  For instance, in profile Category location, you might want to assign a user to the value HQ, and also the value of Human Resources.  You simply ctrl-click the profile values and then modify the user.

If you have profile matching on, this user would match other users if HQ or Human Resources were selected.
