Hello,

I hope that someone can help me. I am faxing a batch of letters (Word 97 mail-merge document with recordset in Access 97); I am using Win 2000. I have found a file "w4ua0001.exe" on the Internet before and it helped me to fax the first batch. On the second batch, I got an error that Procomm Plus cannot find ASPTIME.dll library.

Thank you.

What version of Procomm are you using?  You shouldn't use the files in w4ua0001.exe if you are using version 4.8, and probably version 4.7 as well, since w4ua0001.exe was intended for earlier versions of the program.

ASPTIME.DLL should be located in the ASPECT directory under your Procomm install.  If the first fax merge worked successfully, then this file was likely present and should still be there now.

Thank you for the reply. I am using version 4.8, I have made some changes to the files (such as pw4 changed to pw5, ect.)

I do have Asptime in the Aspect directory, but it's still giving me an error. As you can see, I am not familiar with aspect writing, so I am not sure how to fix it.

Thank you.

knob,

I have one more question. I understand that you are and expert on the Procomm Plus, would you please let me know of any books that can help me learn it.

Thank you.

Since you are using version 4.8, I would go back to the original files that are shipped with Procomm instead of the w4ua0001.exe update (which was for an earlier version of Procomm).  It doesn't look like there is an easy way to pull just those files off the CD, so I would recommend either installing Procomm on another machine (if available) and copying the contents of the ASPECT\faxmerge directory to your current machine, or uninstall and reinstall so that you have just the version 4.8 files on your system.

As for learning ASPECT, there is, unfortunately, no ASPECT book to learn from.  Quarterdeck made an ASPECT manual available for a short time, but it was basically the ASPECT help file in book form.  The best bet is learning from websites such as this one and reviewing the example scripts in the ASPECT help file.  I also have a few other ASPECT-related links on my website, but there is not much else to be found.

Thank you very much, I will try that.
