Compuware Vantage vs. BMC Patrol

Compuware Vantage vs. BMC Patrol

(OP)
Hi,

We are in the process of making a decision on purchasing an Enterprise Application management tool.  We are looking into both BMC Patrol products and Compuware Vantage.  Does anyone have some information to share about the pro's and con's of each.  We are currently leaning towards Compuware.

Thank you,

Mitch

RE: Compuware Vantage vs. BMC Patrol

Which components of Vantage - We have used Network Vantage and Server Vanatage for our ERP project. Has a nice Web interface, easy to deploy. The only thing I wished for was  the auto diagram network tool to work, they are not promoting/supporting this anymore.

RE: Compuware Vantage vs. BMC Patrol

I installed Network Vantage and Server Vantage on a large local client and I have to say it was a breeze. The actual deployment was only a couple of days and that was taking it easy. The SV console is very nice, informative, and provides close to realtime monitoring. The NV console was also very user friendly. I particularly liked the Interactive Viewer that comes with NV that allows you to collect, categorize and display all the thata in your LAN/WAN in a very straightforward manner. Finally, the web-console, called VantageView, was very well received by the section heads. From a technical point of view, I still prefer the actual consoles as a reporting tool but Vantage View does a great job nonetheless.

We had compared this product against HP OpenView, BMC Patrol, and several others. Overall a good investment with excellent results.
