A Wipro DMP gives self test properly but does not print any thing when sent from the computer. The data cable is OK.

Try from DOS and print something to LPT:. This can be a hardware problem from either end and first you need to find which end.
May require you to swap printers around to determine.

dir redirect to printer ie: c:dir >> lpt1
Use only a certified cable - not a $3 dollar made in china cable. Some cables are ok uni directional, but will not work when required to do Bi-directional comms.ie Most buble jet printers now use bi-di comms.
