I've been studying for awhile now and feel I know everything pretty well. But everytime I review chapters or particular sections, say for hardware/memory for example, some little peice of information will pop up that I seemed to have completely missed the first time going through. I was just wondering how yall went about studying for the test?

I mean how many hours did you put in? Did you go through the book several times? Did you study for say a month straight before the test or maybe 3 hours a day 2 weeks before the exam?

I just want to know I'm not the only one out here busting my arse as much as I'm already doing so. It seems like the rest of the world was born with the knowledge to pass and I just can't do it. Lemme know how you got your certification... Easy/Hard Few, Minutes/Few Months, A Few Tips/A 1500 Page Book etc..

I know how you feel.  

One time, when I thought I was ready, I did a practice exam and scored embarrasingly low (75%).  

What helped me gauge my readiness were free practice exams.  You can download a number of them at no charge.  If I were you, I wouldn't spend any money on them.  I went through at least 15-20 practice tests ranging from 20-75 questions.   Then, I kept reviewing material until consistently scoring at least an 85%.   When I finally took both A+ exams, I easily passed.

I just took and passed both exams today. I found that the practice exams were helpful in determining your progress, but you have to read and read and read. And after you have done that, think how that knowledge would applied in real life situations. I had very few questions that wanted just straight numbers regurgitated, they want your understanding of the underlying concerpts.

I don't think you will ever feel totally prepared for the exams, but if you feel you an overall understanding then by all means go for it. I wish you the best of luck.

From what ive seen on CompTIA's Network+ and one of the Microsoft exams. No one book covers all the information, I found that out the hard way in my first exam and nearly failed it.

 So now I read 1 Main textbook, 1 preperation guide (from a different publisher) and do practice exams on the net to death.

 It annoys me that you cant get all the information from any 1 book, but they are trying to test your real-life understanding too, so thats why lots of practice questions are so good, youll get exposed to more types of questions, and itll give u a chance to research on the net anything that wasnt covered in the book.
