I am using Bristor Arcserve 2000 Advanced edition loaded on Windows 2000 Server.  I am also using Exchange Server 5.5 on an NT Server 4.0 (standalone) with Arcserve 2000 Agent for Microsoft Exhange.  All servers have latest SP.  I ahve followed the instructions for loading up the software and the agent but can seem to get the Agent of Exchange to authenticate, any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Have you initialised the mailbox by sending mail to it? And have you made sure its primary group (of the NT account pointing to the mailbox) is domain admins?

Did you give it service account admin throughout exchange?

Have loaded SP3 for both Arcserve 2000 and Exchange Agent.

Backup Agent RPC Server is loging in with DBAGENT account which has its primary group set to Domain Admins.
Backup Agent Config Programme logs in with DBAGENT and is successful.
DBAGENT is given rights listed in manual.
Inistialised DBAGENT mailbox.
DBAGENT has Service Account Admin rights in Exchnage for Org, Site and Config.

When I go to browse the Brick Level in Exchange I enter the secutity info: DBAGENT and the password and I recieve the error "EXCH Excahneg Agent ---(425)Failed to log in as Administrator".

Any help Guru?

Try two things,
     1) Try changing the ARCserve system account to the domain admin account your using for the brick level backup, and  2) Try inputting this account for the mailbox when you submit the job in the "security and job info" screen.

good luck,

Are you logged on Exchange server as DBAGENT account? Run setup for the Exchange Database Agent with this account.

good luck

YOu should right click on the brick level, select Security, and enter the DBAGENT id and password. Do the same for your backup in Security. Also, on the Exchange system, ensure your Exchange client is set for your DBAGENT, and you have the outlook mailbox set for that ID.
