I´ve looked on Veritas homepage but hasen´t found a solution to this problem.

Our backup-program is Backup Exec 8.0 and the device is a sony tape-robot. On the "backup-clients" we use the agent to speed up the backup-process.
The job status shows "pending" all the time. why?
It acts as if it doesn´t mount the tapes or something.

We haven´t been able to take a proper backup for over a week, I can bet a user starts asking for some missing documents any minute.
The person responsible is on vacation and everything was allright when he left. My luck ey!

We are having what seems to be the same problem.  Backups are properly scheduled, all services are started just fine.  But the job always says pending, and the status log says that it is loading the media.  So far we do not know why, but we have not had a working backup for almost a month, and will have to use NT Backup to force a backup.

If it is pending, it usually means the drive is not ready or the tape is not ready.

Check that the drive is seen in control panel Tape Devices and the tape is loaded correctly. Then check the hardware setup within BE.

This usually indicates that your Device and Media service is hung.  Try stopping and starting your BE services.

The problem was that it didn´t find the scsi-card at startup. Well actually it found it but the card behaved strangely. After a couple of reboots of the computer and the robot the scsi-card managed to find/configure itself again.
We´re switching the backup robot with scsi-card (the former was just a temporary sollution) so hopefully this will work better. My guess is that you will see more questions in this forum :)

Thanks for your help...
