Hi,

Any one encountered NO-LIc error for Avaya MES CM 6? I cant be able to administer since it is blocked.

Thanks!

it means it's been that way for at least a month. What version of 6? You probably just had a tomcat or web server crash.

In the newer versions, it's in the system manager, so, from root at it's console --> service jboss restart.
Older versions have the license server in the web console (cdom). You can ssh to the hypervisor/dom0 and as root "xm stop udom" or xm reboot udom or something like that. Can't remember off hand, but there's 2 'domains' or virtual machines, 0 is the hypervisor, don't reboot that, reboot the one with id 1. I think 0=dom0 and 1=udom.

Anyway, if CM's webpage, in the top menu there's a spot for licensing to see which IP it's looking to for a license and you can figure out if it's smgr or cdom from there.

You might also need the certificaterenewalutility.bin version 2 or something from Avaya. If SMGR's certificates expired, that'd be a great reason it's web server died and can't serve up licenses.

Hi,

kyle555.. my CM version is 6.3.0. For the certificate, it will expire on 2019.Right now, I cant access weblm and system manager.

Thanks!

just kick jboss first. If it was totally incompatible like that link says, someone botched your upgrade and you've been like that for a long time.

Thanks!

For this cm version license in on SMGR correct?

will this require downtime if ever?

<release 6, it was on itself in a more unique way. Release 6 and up it's on WebLM, a common licensing server for many products.

A WebLM can be standalone VM, or there's always one in System Manager, and possibly in the System Platform hypervisor depending on the version of 6.x. On Avaya's licensing portal, you activate your features to the MAC address of the WebLM server, not the CM, so if you have >1 it doesn't really matter which you pick.

Restarting SMGR isn't generally service affecting.

Thank you. Hope it will work after the restart
