Group ringing 3 extensions / best way?

Group ringing 3 extensions / best way?

(OP)
Hey guys...
So I have a scenario where I have 3 individual extensions 7344, 7346, 7348 - and I need all 3 of these extensions to ring simultaneously whenever any of the 3 extension are dialed. What is the best way to do this? I already tried to create a group (extension 230), placed all 3 members in the group, and call forwarded unconditionally all 3 extensions to the group, but this ends up in calls just going to voicemail as it creates a loop. Per the IPO index if I unconditionally call forward a user to a group that they are a member of, it will not ring that user..
I am really not sure how else to accomplish this - any help would be much appreciated!

Cover appearance
Each user has a cover appearance for the utter 2

Or

Bridged appearances but they take more room because you want to also have the second appearance and maybe third ring to the other extensions

Another way would be to make those extension numbers into collective hunt group numbers. Effectively retire them for the greater good and make them 3x hunt group pilot numbers. Make three hunt groups from the old extension numbers. Give the users 3x new extension numbers. Put the 3x new extensions in the 3x groups.

daddy? are you doing blah blah blah things again?

Thanks guys. We had considered giving the phones 3 new extensions and using the old ones as the main hunt group #s, but we are trying to avoid the possibility of any users being able to dial any one of the extensions without dialing the others. Is there anyway of accomplishing this w a voicemail pro module?

Thanks,

Each user twinned to a hunt group containing the other two? Or one group with all 3? No idea if that will work I'm 3 sheets to the wind so probably not.

the twinning will probably work, good thinking

Then you won't be able to call the hunt group...

This whole thread would be a lot more useful if you said what type of phones they were? as some of the options depend on whether they are analogue or not, have programmable buttons or not.

Also do you want this behaviour for all calls to any of the extensions or just external calls?

Do you want their calls still to go to voicemail if not answered? if so which voicemail?

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

They are IP- avaya 9611G phones/ ipo release 9.0.10.

Yes we are wanting the behavior for all calls (internal and external DID dialing) to these extensions.

The voicemail really hasn't been decided yet- not as big of an issue as the ringing is. Individual mailboxes would be great, but a centralized or group voicemail box would be fine too if that's the only way we can have it to make the ringing work.

Quote (rgunther)

and I need all 3 of these extensions to ring simultaneously whenever any of the 3 extension are dialed.

Why?
why are you calling an individual Extn if you want the group to ring?

if incoming call route point all 3 di's to the group.

for internal calls tell people not to ring the individual Extns (& make them ex-directory)

Your question suggests that you have not analysed the true requirements of your users & are tryng to give them what they ask for instead of what they want (a common error).

In this case, it is a records department with 3 agents. We have over 300 active extensions, and this records department takes on alot of calls, however, users are no longer calling the group and trying to go straight to there favorite agent. Well, we do not want them to keep bypassing the group, and dialing the same agent- as they all need to be calling the group rather than picking the one favorite agent everytime. So we are trying to correct it so that they cannot dial the individual user, and forcing it to ring the group / giving all agents a chance to answer & help. As most know, we can tell our employees 1000 times to dial the group, but they will still try to bypass that in order to ensure they get their "favorite" records clerk.

HoldMusic - Externally twinned would still allow the group to be called.

The function you really require is P45 issued to the 1st agent who violates the instruction.
is it really that big a deal if they ring an individual, after all it will only delay them if their favourite agent is busy (why is one agent a favourite anyway?)

if you must abuse the Phone system to resolve a HR problem then either

change the extn numbers for these 3 users
et them x-directory & do not let staff know these internal extn numbers.

or

you "May" be able to do something sneaky if you give these 3 users extn's numbers with a length greater than the Dial delay count & set short codes that will then trigger when the delay count is reached

Untestted

delay count =4
user to block = 7344123

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and idea's -
I ended up trying the mobile twinning with the group number in the twinned number field, and it appears to be working exactly how we were hoping. :)

Thanks again!
