R10 Upgrade costs

R10 Upgrade costs

(OP)
Can you detail the costs of upgrading my IP500v2 from R9.1 to R10/10.1

is IPOSS required, basic user licenses required?

My IP500v2 has an actual Essential edition license, Preferred edition license, 2 power user license, 12 virtual endpoints, and 10 sip trunk channels.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

Upgrade license and 2 to 3 hours of work.
Assuming you don't have a UCM because then it can add a couple of hours.

My last question was a technical one, does avaya still offer Small System upgrade licenses with r10?

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

Is not, asking if something is still for sale is a commercial question.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

(OP)
i see licensing questions asked on this forum all the time, the one time i ask is a problem>?

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

You can buy 1 year IPOSS cheaper than the upgrade license so I don't keep track of the upgrade licenses anymore.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

As you are going to ned to purchase the licence from your disti, why not simply ask them?

V10 can only be licensed using PLDS so depending on how you current system was licensed (ADI or PLDS) you will probably need to go through the ADI to PLDS migration process with your disti anyway.

I always find it amazing how much time people are prepared trying to find a "Short-cut" instead of doing things the correct way.

Thank you, i just emailed my distributor my PLDS XML migration file from R10.1 manager.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

(OP)
I ended up getting a quote from my distributor for R10 upgrade license for Small system upgrade which was almost 5 times the price of the R9.1 Small system upgrade license (339106) I purchased two years ago.

The distributor said he was advising all his clients not to upgrade unless there was a critical feature you needed, and then mentioned Avaya may change their policy in the future for upgrades since their has not been working out to their advantage, the distributor said over 98% of their clients are sticking with R9 and R9.1 currently.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

Depends what's included in the cost but I would consider changing dist.

I don't see how the upgrades would get cheaper than they are today as it is already to cheap.
As a customer you might argue that it should be free but as a business owner bills need to be paid.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

I may be wrong with this, as I haven't followed up with the lead tech on the project. It seems to me on a migration we did to R10 (the change from ADI to PLDS) killed the virtual end point licenses. Something I would check before the upgrade.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

(OP)
The problem is not with my dist, as they do not do support, they strictly serve me licenses at list prices, i have been getting adi licenses from them for last 3 years, always best quotes.

The problem is that Avaya now charges you based on your configuration, the more options you have such as receptionist, essential edition, preferred edition, power users, all add into The New license upgrade pricing structure.

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

Eh, no...
It's a fixed price...
Buy IPOSS and upgrade.

I think thats what i was quoted for:

IPO RTS 8X5 - 500 V2 1YPP 271629

pre-R10 it was just a system upgrade license, which cost much less

RE: R10 Upgrade costs

If you get quoted that the dist is not certified to get Co-Delivery prices, or they might but don't show that they are buying that.
But that has a fixed price, it doesn't matter how many licenses you have.

The SML upgrade license has about the same list price as IPOSS.
Although everyone are free to set whichever price they want so only you know how much they wanted to charge.
