Issue with installing Voicemail Pro Client Release 10 on Windows 7

Issue with installing Voicemail Pro Client Release 10 on Windows 7

(OP)
Hello,

Having a strange issue, and I haven't been able to find a solution online on the Avaya Support site or here.

I am unable to install Voicemail Pro Client on Windows 7. I currently have the 9.1.x software version installed.

When attempting to install R10, the Modify / Repair / Remove prompt comes up. Either the modify or repair option selected, I get the box to select the features I need. I remove all except Voicemail Pro Client. The program will then give an error "this isnt the correct product" or something to that effect.

I have completely deinstalled the old version of VMPro client from one of the computers, same result.

Has anyone run into this issue before ? Is there any where to download just the client, not the whole server/client ZIP file ?

What I know (from what you are saying) is, there is a version already installed. R10 does a stupid install that doesn't include the Windows 'Everyone' permission and won't actually completly deinstall, the directory will be locked and you can't delete it. Why are you using a mismatched version? And to actually answer your question. No. You have to download the complete package and install the required parts. To possably solve the problem, go to windows explorer, surf to the VM folder. See if it has a lock on the folder. If it does modify the permissions to include 'Everyone' Allow Everyone full control. Delete the directory. But I could be wrong. \hourglass

Problem solved.

I uninstalled VM Pro, and then I had to delete the Voicemail Pro folder.

After that, I had to search my Regedit and remove every mention of Voicemail Pro.

I was then finally rid of the old 9.1.x version, and I was able to install the release 10 version.

Blaim Microsoft, that is the way they want it. Be happy we don't have to cope with a Apple OS.
Beside that I had no problem at all installing/upgrading VM Pro 10.x but always run the installer as Administrator even if you use the administrator account.

RE: Issue with installing Voicemail Pro Client Release 10 on Windows 7

I net user enabled the actual Administrator acount, ran as administrator, windows still said I didn't have permission to access the VM folder. That's why I had to add everyone to the permissions. I had a R10 install go south and wouldn't even run the client, unistall, allow me to delete, nothing. I just thought it would be a fair bit of info to know how to recover a crashed VM Pro... hourglass

Weird, I never had that.
Was it a PC (formerly) within a domain with domain restrictions?
I always first take the PC out of the domain and login as a local admin before upgrading/installing VM Pro.
But it still is MS Windows, anything can happen.
