Can i get conclusion on this what will be the issue.

Avaya PBX is used. CM 6.3 version.

I'm not sure what the cause of this is, but if you're looking for a quick fix, the following command in CM will clear the indicator.

clear amw all xxxxx

Where xxxxx is the extension of the station with the voicemail indicator.

what are the steps to follow before clearing the voicemail box.. there may be some important message in the voicemail, so directly i can't clear right..


thanks for the suggestion, i need further analysis on this issue please suggest me.

Clearing the light doesn't remove any messages from the user mailbox, it simply removes the light till a new message is left on that person's mailbox.

There is a feature called "leave calling word message" , this will light the lamp on sets , it could be that someone has either mistakenly or knowingly utilised this feature , have a look in your features menu page 3 "disp feat" to find out the cancel code for calling word and see if thats your issue.

Other than that you need to utilise basic troubleshooting command like "status station" or maybe "display internal data sta port" to see what the pbx thinks is going on , you also have not ststed what type of VM you are using , so giving you any conclusion ( as you put it) would be pure conjecture , you need to be more detailed in your environment and what you have already tried / proved /disproved.
