I have a BCM 50 location that required a new hdd and reprogramming. All calls are answered by AA. When an external caller dials 0 the ring cadence is similar to an internal call (two short rings). Customer is claiming external calls would have long rings / external ring sound. Is that possible some way? What am I missing?

Maybe they were not originally AA as thought.

I think for all Norstar and BCM Auto Attendants, any call that comes in from the Auto Attendant acts like it's an internal call and performs the intercom 2 ring cadence.

The same condition exists when you perform a call transfer and send it internally within the phone system. Even though it's an external call you are transferring, the phone system treats it is a double ring intercom call.

I've seen a few Norstar systems where this is backwards, but I think that might be a system malfunction.

This is where Norstar BCM lacked in "customization" in my opinion. You couldn't change the cadences, nor perform backgroud music on intercom calls, etc. to name a few things.

That's where the UCx is awesome, because the Nortel guys, changed these features to suit the need of the customer.

Not sure if this would, I don't recall. But you can change the ring type on CO lines to something other than I/C calls. I don't know if the change will follow through to transferred call, AA or manual transfer.
