Text to Number field

Text to Number field

(OP)
Hi

I have a linked table to our SQl customer table and the Key filed is a number field (Int)

I have a spreadsheet with a list of customers of which I want to match against the SQL customer table. I then want to update some fields with matching customer numbers.

However, no matter how I import the spreadsheet it will not recognise the customer number field as a number field, so when I try and match in a query it says it cannot and it is a mismatch.

If I try and change the Customer number field from the imported spreadsheet to a Number format it loses all 1800 records. (The customer number field does have a mixture of text and numbers, for example DS1001)

How can I get the imported spreadsheet customer number field to change to a Number format without losing the data.

Thanks

Sorry ignore this one, I was looking at the wrong fields.
