How to disable dial by name directory VM option?

How to disable dial by name directory VM option?

(OP)
Can't quite find any information on this one. Something we haven't updated in years and really don't need. I believe I have a Norstar BCM400 system, but don't quote me on that. Anyone have any idea how I can disable the voice mail "dial by name directory VM option"? -Jim

I don't believe you can turn off the option to dial # for the directory.

Just don't mention the option in your AA greeting and in each mailbox un-check the directory option.

Problem is, in this day and age, many people know that option "should" exist - which is exactly happened in this case. Took me by surprise. Really need to disable that option.

RE: How to disable dial by name directory VM option?

Actually yes you can, Make Directory Available is located under System Properties page....un-check it.

I do not have a web interface to this system. Everything is handled via programming from the phone. Any idea how to manually "uncheck" this option from programming mode?

RE: How to disable dial by name directory VM option?

Once logged into F983 press 4 then Next and change it to N.

You missing out on a lot of programming not using the web browser.

Do you know what release software it is? 3.X or 4.0?

Also in the mailbox of each user make them not in the directory.

CP 31.10.14.22
Never been able to find the software to download for this system. I did recently find the Business Element Manager, but not sure if that is what you are talking about? Any assistance you can give or direct me to would be greatly appreciated.

RE: How to disable dial by name directory VM option?

The problem is this
CP 31.10.14.22 is a Callpilot 100 or 150 but you said you have a BCM400

Without knowing what you really have we cant tell you what is required.

Cook1082 if you disable the Directory you wont have to painfully do that.

I was just giving you the information I saw in the programming mode under system information. So here's the deal. I am the Director of IT here at the company. Been here 4 years now. CFO had "friend of the family" doing phone maintenance long before I got here. About 18 months ago the "phone guy" dropped off the radar. No one has seen or heard of him since. So to be perfectly honest, I am not entirely sure what I have here. I have a Nortel box that says Mox16 on the outside. Does that help at all? So I need Call Pilot installed? Where would I find that? -J

RE: How to disable dial by name directory VM option?

M0X16
That would be a Norstar Station Module.....surely you have more boxes on the wall but does not matter now.
You do not have a BCM400.

You have so far:
1 Norstar KSU which is most likely a MICS 0X32
1 0X16 Station
1 Callpilot (100 or 150)

NT (not NNT) numbers on the little white stickers including the software inside the phone system cover tell a story.

What you would need is to hook up the Callpilot to your network switch then change the IP address of the Callpilot.
The default IP is 192.168.110.10 you can go in that way with a laptop and use Browser to change it via one of the headings at the bottom of the page.

In phone set programming 102 represents the mailbox, the four digits after that represent the password for mailbox 102 (System Manager)
Use that password for the Browser.

The Guide you want to search is "Callpilot 150 Setup and Operation Guide"
