Copy & paste based on change in ID in next column

Copy & paste based on change in ID in next column

I currently have a list of Policy Numbers (not unique) and Membership number (Unique) What I need to be able to do is copy and paste the first instance of a membership number where the policy number is the same and repeat the process on each change of the policy number.

I've attached a sample of the data as it is and what I need it to look like.

Any help you can provide would be brilliant.

Thanks in advance

What have you tried so far and where are you stuck?

Have fun.

Actually, this can be done on the sheet in just a few seconds, using a simple IF()

»  Are you sure your example result is correct?  (In row 7?)
»  What happens if a policy number, having appeared higher up the list in a group of contiguous rows, re-appears further down the list?  It seems that this could happen, because the policy numbers have not been sorted into any order.
