Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

3
(OP)
I was notified this morning by our leadership at work that Gene Trouteaud, who many of you know here by GHTrout, passed away unexpectedly this morning. I have been lucky enough to have been working with Gene for the last several months but his work here as well as his own site has helped me out of numerous situations over the years before I was formally introduced to him.

I know Gene has helped many many people on this forum and others with his vast knowledge and willingness to take the time to help anyone with seemingly any problem.

I do not have any more details at this time, but I felt his extended Nortel family should know about this unexpected loss. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

thank you for letting us know. I would still be paying 200 bucks to have a name changed if it wasn't for his site and help. he was a good guy and will be missed.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Very sad news. Gene went above and beyond to share his knowledge and help others.
Condolences to his family and friends.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

That's very sad. He was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Sending prayers and condolences to his family.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

I was shocked and stunned yesterday when I heard the news. Gene was a great guy. Prayers for him and his family!

Thanks,

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

I am very sad. Last night, I looked through our old emails between each other and he talked about his fun stuff like his girlfriend and his vacations. He also recorded me various buzz tone lengths in milliseconds to get the exact amount of time right for the buzz on the E-MetroTel solution. We discussed the ins and out of paging systems too. He was a great, friendly, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable guy that I will miss a lot!

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Prayers for his family. This forum has helped me so many times. It made look smart when I didn't necessarily know what I was doing at the time.

Always shared his information with all of us.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

This is surely a great lost.
Gene will be missed here in tek tips.
My he RIP.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Though I've never met him, I felt sad as I read the OP. Ghtrout has provided so much advice here, helped many and didn't even know it.sadeyes My thoughts go out to his Family.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

That is a shock to hear. Most likely I have derived approximately 60% or better of my PBX knowledge over the last couple of decades from him as well as some others.

His family will be in my prayers

Sorry to hear that - He has helped me a lot also. I still use many notes and website info....... I hope his family knows how much we appreciated his efforts

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Gene was a great guy and loved to contribute to the Nortel family. He'll be missed! Here is a STAR! for Gene!

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

I'm very sorry for the late reply although I was one of the first to be informed by Drew last week about Gene. I've been away on vacation and haven't been able to get onto tek-tips.

Like many of us, we would have been lost without Gene's professional detailed knowledge and his excellent website. I've also been lucky enough to have personally known him and had spoken to Gene on previous occasions.

Even now, I'm still shocked by the news and that we have all lost a good friend. My thoughts go out to all of Gene's family and friends.

Johnthephoneguy,
I have plans to try and make sure that it doesn't. I can tell you there is already a mirror running, but I don't want it to go that way, I want his site to stay up.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Sending prayers and condolences to his family. He was always helpful.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

You know what's interesting, is that I hadn't talked to Gene in awhile and last Sunday, before he passed away, I thought of giving him a call, as I traveled back from Northern Wisconsin down I-41 in Menominee Falls. I saw an Aurora Health vehicle and I remember Gene telling me all about Aurora going with Cisco and it made me think of him. I then was distracted by my fiance and driving, so I didn't call. Now I feel bad. Gene was so helpful. We could talk Nortel phones for hours! My prayers are with his family and all of you as well, who will miss him, like me.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

RIP Gene!
This site has been a tremendous help to me.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

A huge loss. Seemed like a great guy, and certainly an incredibly generous resource in the Nortel community.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Very sad news indeed - a great loss to us all. Thoughts and prayers to the family

It's not getting any smarter out there. You have to come to terms with stupidity, and make it work for you.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Does anyone remember the charity he supported. I believe it was a Catholic charity.

Here is his obituary notice - they may know the charity he supported.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Very sad indeed, I've used many of his reference tools over the years while re-learning Nortel/Avaya. I bet he's off to make sure there's always dial tone in the clouds now. RIP.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Kevin Kennedy, President and CEO of Avaya sent an email to IAUG members informing him of his passing late on Friday. I told the IAUG International President I was appreciative of his note and kind thoughts to inform the IAUG members.

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Thanks fop letting us know, he will be missed. I've had the privilege of working with him as Chapter Leaders for the Nortel user group of each of our states, back in the day. I was always amazed at his intelligence and willingness to share is knowledge and simplify it for those of us learning the technology. His site GHTrout was extremely helpful to me and my peers. RIP Gene

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

WOW (been away for 2 months) really sorry to hear this, always helpful & as been said such a depth in knowledge & helped me with some quirky issues over the years. Sad times for the Nortel family world wide.

Remember if it doesn't work hit it harder

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

So sad to hear. I use his PDF file that was CK1K75 everyday. I hope the community keeps his website going. Lots of knowledge that should be saved. RIP Gene

As some of you may have noticed ghtrout.com is down. I've had a backup mirror running since Gene's passing and hoped we wouldn't have to use it as part of the transition for his site but in case someone needs something from it in the mean time here's the link:

RE: Gene Trouteaud passed away this morning.

Yikes! I missed this announcement back in August. I got to speak with him on the phone on a few occasions. To say he was helpful is an understatement. I was glad to pay him for his consulting time, but don't think we ever needed more than 15 minutes to solve a problem. He often didn't charge me when he could have. His responses to my forum posts were always appreciated. A belated RIP, Gene.
