Biamp Vocia Digital Paging. Anyone install one of these before because I have some questions

(OP)
We have a vendor that is proposing the Biamp Vocia solution and is promoting it to the "brass" as having:

"No head-end" so if one device goes down the system still operates on remaining on-line components;
1. If the MS-1 fails, how does that affect the entire solution?
2. What other devices might cause an issue if they fail?

How reliable is this system and what happens to it if there is a network problem?

How easy it to troubleshoot and determine if it is truly a configuration error vs. a network issue?
1. I have been involved with way too many projects involving VOIP where the vendor is blaming the network guys and they are blaming the VOIP vendor.

Thanks,
Jon

RE: Biamp Vocia Digital Paging. Anyone install one of these before because I have some questions

If you are looking for a simple external paging unit for a VoIP solution I suggest looking at the SNOM unit. It is a standard SIP device that supplies audio to an external paging amp. It has a small amp included but if that is not powerful enough you can connect it to an external amp, or amplified speakers. As with any IP device it is dependent on the network. It is defaulted to grab an IP address and it is either line or external powered.

I have installed also the SNOM PA-1 in the past and it is simple and so far no reliability issues that I know of.

I looked quickly at the Biamp Vocia and it looks snazzy, I like that it is rackmountable but have no experience with its reliability or setup.
