How to get the main incoming number to go to the main operator console on Merlin Magix 1.0 system

How to get the main incoming number to go to the main operator console on Merlin Magix 1.0 system

How to get the main incoming number to go to the main operator console on Merlin Magix 1.0 system

(OP)
We have been using a Merlin Magix 1.0 system for about 20 years. We switched voice providers and they ported all our DID's that we use. All the DID's work ang do to their respective internal extensions. The only DID that doesn't is the main company number. The operator console is our internal extension of 555 and the last 3 numbers of our main number is 570 and when someone calls, it's ringing to the internal extension of 570. It didn't do that until we switched providers. Is there something that needs to be changed or reprogrmmed?

It is possible that before the switch your previous provider was sending 555 when someone called the 570 number from outside so the Magix didn't need to manipulate the digits. You can manipulate through the Magix under your PRI settings, incoming tables. Their are 16 tables that can be used/created. You might already be using some of them so it is always best to do a print of the PRI configuration so you can see how it is currently programmed (you need winspm to do this). You'll create a table with the following (expected digits-570, delete digits- 3, add digits 555).

Thanks! I do have winspm installed so I guess I try to figure how to print a list of tables. But how would the previous voice provider send a different 3 numbers than the actual phone number? I'm new to this and got this put on my plate to fix.

They can do that. It is not common and most will tell you they cannot. I have done this with ATT before so I know they can do it. Menu-System Prog-Start-More-Print-PRI if I remember correctly to print the report.

Thank you! I will give it a try

Okay, do you know the procedure to add this incoming table into the system using the WinSPM?

Thanks!

Thanks! Worked like a charm!

Okay, we got the incoming calls corrected by setting up the pattern as described. Now, we have another issue, not really a problem but different.

Before when a call came into the main console, it would show what “line number” it was coming in on. So the receptionist would call the extension that the caller was requesting and say “pick up on 805” or whatever it showed the line number the call was on. Now it shows the actual caller ID information and not the line number. So what she does is tell whomever the call is for to pick up on 555 or 0. But, if she has multiple calls on hold, she can’t do that. Do you know how to change it to where it shows the line number the call is coming in on instead of the caller id information? This isn’t something that’s pressing or critical but she is used to letting us know what line number to pick up on instead of her letting us know to pick up on 555 or operator extension.

RE: How to get the main incoming number to go to the main operator console on Merlin Magix 1.0 system

If you press the right arrow button, does the line number show up?

The Operator can also PARK calls, and then inform the recipient which park zone to pick up

Okay, I looked at the phone and tried the right arrow and that didn't work. I also tried the "park" and "hold" and that didn't show any information as what "line" the caller is on.

RE: How to get the main incoming number to go to the main operator console on Merlin Magix 1.0 system

Using PARK, won't show the number. The OPERATOR must be shown how to use PARK to a PARK ZONE. Then she can direct the CALLED PARTY to pick up that Call Park Zone. The OPERATOR can "PARK" a call on 1 of 8 different CALL PARK ZONES (Default 881 thru 888) and then can instruct the CALLED PARTY to pick up "881", for instance.
