TARGET STORE +WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR PAGING SYSTEM IS SECURE FROM OUTSIDE THE BUILDING

TARGET STORE +WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR PAGING SYSTEM IS SECURE FROM OUTSIDE THE BUILDING

TARGET STORE +WHY YOU SHOULD ALWAYS MAKE SURE YOUR PAGING SYSTEM IS SECURE FROM OUTSIDE THE BUILDING

(OP)
I came across this video of a Target in which the paging system was busted into from the outside. (LINK AT BOTTOM)

Someone knew the paging access code, and then called and asked the operator to transfer them to that extension and they took control of the stores (normally unused) paging system for 15 minutes. No one in the store knew where the paging amplifier was, so they couldn't figure out how to shut it down.

Target normally believes in distraction free shopping, so paging and music are not allowed. What's interesting, is that they carry around extremely fuzzy, tinny, annoying walkie talkies and you can hear entire conversations across the store on the walkies that are ten times more annoying than a quick page over a loud speaker. Someone at Target has this warped sense that walkie talkies are less disruptive.

In additon, they also buy microphones, Cisco IP Phones systems and Walkie Talkies.....why not buy a PBX that allows just one system.

-IP PBX
-Push to Talk Wireless SIP Phones (where most calls could be answered the old fashioned way, through the ear piece)
-eliminate the microphone all together

There you go Target, I just saved you money at every store, but not having to buy three systems, when your phone system can do it ALL for you.

Just my two cents.

Now warning about the video.....there is the sound of adult videos going on in the background.

Here is a second video showing a second store it happened at, loudspeaker and all.

There are some dirty words in there, so this isn't for ALL audiences.

I can't imagine it, since Target is dead quiet usually except for the chatter of their awful two way radios......

I would be laughing my ass off, but most elderly wouldn't be.

On another Target note.....since you are a from Canada, Mike:

I was reading peoples comments in the press about Target in Canada, and one of the complaints was that it was too quiet with no music and paging, it felt like a funeral home.

I bet Target never even did research on the quiet store environment, someone just thought it would be a good idea.

Wow too funny, glad I was not in there when it happened.
I am curious as to what system they use.

My complaint was there was nothing on the website as far as merchandise and pricing so if I dont know they carry it then why waste my time going when every other store does.
That went only for the .ca not .com, we did not have a site like the US and I believe that was a huge downfall for them.
I did go twice and was not impressed, mostly there was no choice of the products however it was neat and clean and no fat ladies with thongs.
It was a poorly mis managed bunch of BS from the get go so good riddance and glad they packed it in, although my RIOCAN stock didn't fair that well with now empty buildings lol.
