Trouble running scheduled SSIS task in SQL Jobs

Trouble running scheduled SSIS task in SQL Jobs

Hi

I have an SSIS package that runs and updates the SQL table no problems.

However when I try and run it from a job in the sql server it keeps failing any ideas please, the log text is below (may be a SQL issue but maybe someone else as had a similar issue) Thanks

RE: Trouble running scheduled SSIS task in SQL Jobs

error is self explainatory - package is not found in whatever location you specified on your step execution - this can be because location is incorrect or the sql server agent user does not have permissions to read it

RE: Trouble running scheduled SSIS task in SQL Jobs

Hi

That is strange. The path is 100% correct. If I run the package from the SSBIDS it runs ok and updates the table in the database. I am logged in as my user name on my computer.

I log into the management studio with the same log in. Not sure where permissions to run from SQL to a directory is given in SQL (if at all).

Any ideas please

Thanks

RE: Trouble running scheduled SSIS task in SQL Jobs

read through the following links.

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms178142(...
https://www.simple-talk.com/sql/database-administr...

note that the sql server agent user should always always be a Windows user from the domain (with the exception of local instances on your own pc where it can be the local service one as long as any packages you run do not require access to files outside your pc)

as for permissions to folders - if you don't know ask your network administrator group as they should know (and if not they can go and learn how as it is their work!!). This is the basic of any Windows permissions so not going to explain how it works.

RE: Trouble running scheduled SSIS task in SQL Jobs

Hi

Create a proxy user with the administrator privileges and run the job under the user.
