IBM x3650 M3 rack server unable to detect SSD hard drive during install

IBM x3650 M3 rack server unable to detect SSD hard drive during install

(OP)
I have IBM x3650 M3 server and it's giving me hard time because I have other M2 systems that seem to work fine with SSD and is able to detect during windows server installation.

Here is the latest and hopefully someone knows an answer,
- I changed bios to use "Legacy mode" only
- It boots thru Windows server 2012 but it doesnt detect hard drive so, i cant install Windows on it
- I am assuming these servers were setup on RAID and i am able to read the hard drive if i go into RAID utility
- I tried changing different BIOS options and nothing seems to work. I even tried disabling SAS controller etc. but no luck

Before it wasnt even booting thru DVD but after Legacy change, it boots thru Windows OS but as i said, it doesnt detect SSD drive. I have tried 2 different SSD but no luck.

I downloaded a driver from IBM site for SAS/SATA/SSD for Windows server but it still doesnt detect the drive. I can upload screenshots if required but right now, I am stuck with this server. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Have you done BIOS and other updates (firmware) to make sure you are 100% up to date? Then retry.

I am new to IBM but how can i update BIOS thru BIOS? I do have USB and cd option but BIOS doesnt have anything that lets me update the firmware. Thanks

I see you are new to IBM. Here is how it goes:

Go into the downloads section and do everything that applies, but most importantly these sections for your issue:
BIOS, Firmware update, Hard drive, RAID, Serial ATA (SATA), Serial attached SCSI (SAS), Solid-State Drives (SSD)

I can't go through all of them for you and cherry pick what you need, but scope it all out for things that relate to disk updates / controller relationships. Look under the Disk Controller and RAID software matrix as well.
