Can winsock talk to a plc that uses only Eip/Cip protocols?

The PLC in question uses only Eip/Cip protocol and not Tcpip.
Has anyone tried this or any specific info as to what vb6 code would be needed?

Presumably you mean Ethernet/IP

RE: Can winsock talk to a plc that uses only Eip/Cip protocols?

In which case it's pretty hard to get VB to talk to it directly. Technically it runs over TCP/IP, which would suggest winsock could work - but it runs at the application layer, so the reality is that you effectively would need to write yourself a driver for it ...

You might want to look at something like http://automatedsolutions.com/products/abtcpip.asp

Yeah for $900! Cheaper to use an Ethernet to RS232 adapter for $100.

Well, have fun with that then smile
