Display values in footer depending on values in detail rows

(OP)
I have a report that displays 1 to n rows of data. I want to display blocks of test related to some of those rows in the report footer. I was thinking I'd just add several text boxes with conditional expressions controlling the Hidden property, but that's not working as I expected. It may be that I don't understand what to use in my conditional!

I'm trying to say, "If productcode = xxxx is not in any of the detail rows, then hide this box."

And be able to say that for an arbitrary number of boxes. I can get it to work for one value from the detail rows, but I can't see how to distinguish between rows. I'd be happy to read some docco if someone has a reference, or try suggestions if there are any of those.
