WP Admin doesn't work, all multi-sites have wrong sub-domain

WP Admin doesn't work, all multi-sites have wrong sub-domain

WP Admin doesn't work, all multi-sites have wrong sub-domain

(OP)
Hi,

When we first set up WP , we used a demo. sub-domain for the master account in a multi-site install.

When we went live it was changed to the usual www. and I edited the wp-config.php file with the following

CODE

define('DOMAIN_CURRENT_SITE', 'www.mydomain.com');
define('PATH_CURRENT_SITE', '/');

I then found I had to edit the MySQL DB for the master site replacing every where it had demo. in any table column.

OK the main site is working fine, but now all the multi-site sites don't work in the WP Admin because they all seem to have a folder path off a URL that still says

Quote:

demo.mydomain.com/another_site/

Where is it getting this demo. rubbish from and how do I change it, in fact why do I have to change it? I've changed the master URL , so why don't the rest work as a relative path from the master domain?

Help understanding why this is happening and how to fix it is appreciated.

Well it seems WP is so sucky I have to manually edit the WP_XXX_Options table for every site we run because it appears to be hard coded rather than being relative to the master domain.

We also run the domain mapping plugin but that doesn't do anything with regard to the WP Admin settings for the multi-site URL.

Wordpress also stores the original hostname it was setup on in the database.

Edit siteurl in the options table to change the hostname to suit.

Thanks Chris,

I finally worked it out, bit of a pain and lucky we only have a dozen sites running currently, just as well I caught this before we had 50+
