Message SLS0699I Response ACS 00 SEQ 01/212 ERR 10/10 Drive can't load cartridge RET'D to SRC LSM 00
Getting this message along with SLS0698I and SLS0120E. Cartridges not mounting but will mount via operartor entered HSC mount command. Once cartridge has been updated drive will unload but LSM will not dismount. HSC server has been bounced once a few weeks ago and cleared up issue. Issue seems to have already returned.
Would doing an audit with a long init have any effect? What are the hardware possibilities?

I see your post is nearly two weeks old now. Did you fix it?
I would have suggested the long init and audit as well. If that didn't work then watch a failing mount/dismount at the LCU CCTV monitor and see what the physical symptoms are (such as cartridge fouling at entrance to tape drive). The 9310/L5500 are so old now that the PLZ batteries in LCU are usually flat and corroded. They hold up the LSM alignment as cause all sorts of issues when they go flat. If LMU logs are available, what do they say?

Appreciate the response. Haven't done anything yet. Customer is scheduling for later date outage for maintanence. The PLZ batterie tip sounds like a possibility. LMU logs are not available.
