I have a table of data that has initially been imported from Excel and which appears to have imported correctly. Two of the fields in this table will be used in a report. The Table is tIncome and the two fields are ITEM and AMOUNT. ITEM is a Combo Box where the source is another table with the fields ITEMID, CATID and ITEM (Bound Column 1, Column Count 3).
The report is based on ITEM and AMOUNT where ITEM is grouped and AMOUNT is summed. When I run the report based just on the imported data the report looks accurate.
The problem occurs when I add data to tIncome after which when I run the report the new data appears under a group represented by the ItemID. The report has been created using the 'report wizard'. I have double checked all the things I can think of that might cause this but cannot seem to change the result other than in the report design if I delete the existing 'Item' field (the property of which shows as a Text Box) and insert it again from the field list (after which the property appears as a Combo Box) the report then shows the new data correctly but loses all the other items!!!!!!

I am using Access2000.

I assume it's something really simple but am at a loss to solve it. Any help would be very appeciated

That line confuses me. Can you cut paste and example of how it looks when it is wrong and how it is supposed to look when working correctly? Are you telling me the report updates a table as well? Is this an MDB or ADP?

Remember when... everything worked and there was a reason for it?

Sounds like there might be an issue with a lookup field defined in a table. If you want the value of the Item field to display in the report, you should include the "another table" in the report's record source.
