Fixed decimal sign

Fixed decimal sign

(OP)
Hi,
I need to change a fixed decimal field's sign from 'C' to 'F' (ie: '000012300C' to '000012300F').
We used to use the Defined command:
DCL WHATEVER FIXED DEC(08);
DCL 1 OVERL1 DEF WHATEVER,
2 A CHAR(4),
2 B BIT (4),
2 C BIT (4);

Now with enterprise we get the 'IBM1385I E -- Invalid DEFINED - string overlay defining attempted' message.
I've looked at UNION but cannot see that working.

Thanks

RE: Fixed decimal sign

CODE

DCL   WHATEVER FIXED DEC(09);
DCL 1 OVERL1 BASED(ADDR(WHATEVER)),
     2 A BIT (32),
     2 B BIT (4),
     2 C BIT (4);
