Where in the world do Tek-Tips members come from?

Main Number is LDN want to point to an announcement then go to our switchboard operator

Here is my issue. We have been getting junk faxes and other fax machines dialing our main switchboard number. What I want to do is setup an announcement that states something like this: "To talk to our switchboard operator please press 1". That way we will eliminate all fax machines because they cant hit 1 and only real people will be able to hit 1. Here is my ldn print out.

Are you sure you don't have any of your LD15 INT set to CTVN=ATN ? The junk faxes are probably coming to unused extensions.

Personally, I would set up a thru dialer/automated attendant and say "Please dial the extension you wish to reach, or press zero to speak to an Operator"

Otherwise, you did not ask a question.

That is the other issue I am having...We sometime have that happening as well where the number dialed is not programmed and we own it and it goes to the switchboard. We would like some sort of announcement stating as much. We do get faxes that are directly dialing our switchboard. So my question is how do I have all unprogrammed DIDs go to an announement stating that this is an unused number and secondly how do I create a dial thru as you mentioned to be infront of the swtichboard?

I have made Voicemail trees in the past and know how to make them work but I didnt know if the switchboard would be something different.

Change the existing LDN and use the 8000 to build an ACD or CDN pointed to voice mail. In voice mail build your greeting and route the outbound to the new LDN.
One of the things to look out for here is, how much traffic will now flow through the voice mail system. If these annoying calls take up a lot of channels, you may end up blocking the calls you really want from getting to voice mail.
