Publisher Mail Merge with WordPress/MySql Data Source

First Post Here.

I use a Publisher mail merge to populate a sign template (for print)... in other words to make signs. The sign information is typically pulled from a master .xls file. This file is soon to be exported to a Wordpress install with a shopping cart plug-in. In the future I'd like to create signage with the same Publisher template, except with the mail merge pulling info from the mysql database. Is this possible?

hi,

If you used a query to pull data from Excel, you ought to be able to change the Driver/Source to point to any other database like SQL Server in the Tools > Mailings & Catalogs > Mail Merge > Select Data Source wizard.

Thank You Skip.

I figured this was the case, but as I've said the mysql database does not yet exist. Therefore it's not quite evident to me how I would point Publisher toward the fields in the mysql database. I assume I would have to know the database name, locale and password? I'm just not so familiar with the syntax re: mysql databases and if they have 'addresses'? Any further help would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

You'll probably have to wait until you get the db. But old think that the structure/fields would be the same.

You cannot design toy process without the db!

That is, you cannot design your process without the db.

Understood for sure. I'll check back once I've built the db. Thanks again for your input.
