I suspect that the PA-AL09 card in one of my old 2400IMG's is dying. I do have two spares. What I don't know and what the manuals I have don't tell me is if I can replace this card while the switch is up?

Between switches, jumpers and dip switches I suspect it will take several minutes to configure the new card to match the old. My ignorance on this card is pretty complete.

Can we do this hot or do we have to down the switch.

The system is a work horse, but one that old can give you trouble when disturbing common control cards. Since it is an alarm card, it should be hot swappable. If you want to play it safe, then schedule a shut down. If you choose to try it live, then,
1. Get a recent back up of the database.
2. Make sure that CPU 0 is active.
3. Schedule it for off hours.
4. Have fresh underwear ready and prey.
