Most of the time someone sets up hdmi, it doesn't use the sound card, but digital audio from the video card. On my HTPC I have to enable ATI digital audio for it to work, and digital audio on the tv, as the HDMI 1 plort, also can have an analog input from RCA jacks. |

If they are not actual hardware settings that you have changed (but software settings) then maybe using System Restore to revert back to an earlier configuration is an option? |

realtek do conventional sound devices. Normally HDMI audio is delivered from your Gfx card. Something doesn't seem right. ACSS - SME

1. Go to Start and click on control Panel.
2. Click in Sound, then a new window will open up.
3. In the new windows click on the tab “Playback" and right click in the window and click on Show Disabled devices.
4. Now check if the AOC or YOUR GFX Card (HD Audio) is listed there and right click on it and choose enable.
5. Highlight that AOC Monitor/HD Audio and click on "Set as Default".
make sure that the HDMI cable is attached to the GFX card and the monitor. Otherwise Windows will not recognize the HD Audio output for the GFX card. Ben

What is your video card? It should have that listed there, unless it's using the intel graphics from the cpu. If you are sure you had AOC listed before, reload the driver for the AOC. |

Have you tried the original drivers, as this is a mobile video chip on some weird desktop adapter, that hp had built, so the updated driver files from Nvidia may not work right. Here is the link for the driver page. Also, you say you don't see the AOC monitor listed, if you go to resolution change, and select detect, it may update the inf to the AOC. My Acer sometimes drops out, after a driver update, and I just click detect, then it will update, and give me the correct monitor info. |
