hook up regular phone to Nortel Norstar System

We want to be able to use a regular speakerphone we have with this system. One option is to just dedicate one of our jacks for this purpose. could i then just connect this jack directly to the phone company box and thus bypass the nortel system? so then that line coming in from the phone company would have 2 sets of wires on it. one from the jack with this regular phone and one from the nortel system. would there be any problem with this? thx!

If you have a Norstar system, then you will need a "ATA" to convert the digital port to Analogue.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

You could loop the line to the phone system and the jack but you will not know on the phone system if its in use and why the ATA is the best option.

The CICS has one built in, all others need ATA.

Reminder..Norstar only goes to 3 for conference call and quality of that call usually is pretty bad due to DB loss in and out.May be better of with a telco option on a dedicated pots line

6 months until ski season starts...sadly i must resign myself to the warmer weather"this will include a normal 8-5 work day, 5 days a week"
