i have a dozen or so of these phones and we have 6 lines. most of the phones have lines starting at the fourth button down on the left side with line 6 being directly across from line 1.

one phone however had conference set up in the place where all the others have line 6 with no line 6 at all. i figured out how to erase the conference hoping it would go back to line 6 but now it is just empty. how would i go about getting line 6 assigned to that button again?

The easiest way is to copy one set that has what you want to another.

Would need type of system and software to help you more.

i have no access to any admin or setup options other than what is on the phones themselves. can this be done from the handset?

Line Assignment is under tech programming (Configuration) of the phone system that runs your phones.

You appear to have no admin or tech programming knowledge.

You can read the Install and System Coordinator manuals for your model of Norstar and software level of the phone system or call your local vendor/tech.

you may want to google the admin password as we cannot provide them here

here are te steps

feature **266344
pass: ******
terminals and sets
enter know set with 6 lines
copy
single
data and user
enter set missing line 6
ok
done
release
also search youtube there are videos on how to perform several changes.
that should give you a good idea

thanks for all the tips, i will likely need to figure out how to do that as our vendor/tech company is no longer around and our telephone provider is a local telephone cooperative that doesn't support our system.

You might try this site for a tech.

from above:
feature **266344
pass: ******
terminals and sets
enter know set with 6 lines
copy
single
data and user
enter set missing line 6
ok
done
release

i am trying to learn to do this myself as that would be the best solution and i appreciate everyone's patience.

is there any recourse if someone has changed the default password?

Maybe get us the NTXXXXXXX #'s from both the cabinet and the software cards inside.

Otherwise in programming under Config/Maint/SystemVersion...SP code

the nt number is:

NT5B20FC-93 Rel. 04P

I see no software card inside the cabinet and as stated above, it seems the default config password has been changed, I can get into the Admin but that is all I have been able to access so far.

See our FAQ's for password issue

There is plenty of nortel vendors out there....dont be calling line carriers.

They can reset password and do/train at same time on basic or advanced admin training.
1 to 2 hours would do.

actually that nt number was from the barcoded sticker near the bottom of the cabinet. there are some other numbers on small white stickers as well:

nt5b24dh-93
nt5b49fa-93
nt5b26ga-93

those top two numbers are from the software card then, it also says DR5 on it as well. i will look at the faq to see about the password issue as that seems to be my biggest stumbling block at the moment.
curlycord (Programmer)
21 Jun 12 11:55
Those are on the parts, not the cabinet.....you should clearly tell that they all plug into the cabinet.

nt5b24dh - DR 5.1 software
nt5b49fa - Data Cartridge
nt5b26ga - 2 port exp card

5.1 goes into the data cartridge, that in turn goes into the phone system.

2 port is to add modules to the system.

curlycord (Programmer)

up to 6 x 0's would be password.

If still an issue maybe the date or year is wrong , did you change it?.

If it's at today's date try 963500 as the debug then see if it spits out different numbers.

Also when entering address make sure you see it on the screen before pressing next (entering correctly).

1C0B2C

i.e
-to move cursor over press #
-to enter C you need to press 2 three times.
