Updating fields in salesforce

I would like to know if it's possible to update salesforce fields using Crystal report. I'd like to select all my cases that have case Owner = "AL" and status = "Pending" then send a comment thru the case, make it public and send e-mail to the contact. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
