Is anyone else having problems installing KB2589345? This is the one for Onenote 2010. It gets part way installed then it gets stuck. I've waited 24 hours for it to install with no luck. Here's what I've done so far:

Rebooted
Cleaned temp files via CCleaner, rebooted
Logged in as other admin users
Rebooted
Downloaded the KB update and tried installing that by itself.

So far no luck. Any ideas?

What clues, if any, come from the logs?

Logs files are of no use. I do get an error but MS does describe that error. I suspect that it simply means that the user cancelled the update. I will try the clean boot process when I get a chance. I use OneNote a lot.

My wife's laptop had a problem with this one. Not sure which of the two fixed it but stopping vsmon.exe (ZoneAlarm internet security) and spoolsv,.exe via Task Manager got the stalled installation to continue and complete.

WayneBlackburn,
That was it. I had tried using CCleaner to stop all instances of OneNote from starting but that didn't do it. I didn't even think about the spooler. I suspected that the reason the update failed was that it couldn't stop the OneNote "printer." I was certain Linney's approach would work, too, but I didn't want to go that far if something easier worked (lazy me). Thanks to you and Linney.
