MCD 4.1 embedded vm Administrator and Manager passwordsHelpful Member!(2)

System has been hacked and have changed all the vm passwords except admin and manager, what is documented does't work. Any way to reset these passwords to default or a way to let me change them.

the admin password will give you sufficient access to change the admin and manager passwords

What passwords were changed?

I thought so too, but logged in with root rights it gives the message "You cannot modify the System Administrator mailbox." when I try to change the password.

Then you are not using the admin passcode

Have you ever changed the Tech passcode?

If not, hopefully it is default.

Hopefully you have some documentation to tell you what it is as I don't feel it is wise to post it here.

Sounds like fxwired is trying to change the Admin MB password via the GUI (web) interface & kwbMitel is talking about changing passcodes from the Admin MB using the TUI (phone) interface.

there is a way to read them from a backup

Use winrar to extract the files from a backup and go to this folder
\vmail\temp\db\backup\vmail
use notepad++ to open the 0000PARM.BIN file
Scroll to the right
 ... means lots of NUL
AAAA = Pilot
BBBB = ADMIN Passswd
X = Operator Mailbox
CCCC = Tech passwd
DDDD = Manager passwd

NUL.....NULNULAAAANUL....NULAAAANUL....NULXNUL...NULBBBBNUL....NULCCCCNUL.....NULDDDDNUL.....NUL

If I never did anything I'd never done before , I'd never do anything.....

Another option is to use an ftp client such as filezilla to connect to the 3300, navigate to /vmail/c/vm and copy the file parm.bin, open in notepad and the passwords are in clear text
