I have a site with several 9650C sets with the DSS adjuncts.  The receptionists answer for several upper management and thus have 2 Bridged Appearance keys (a & b) for each of their bosses.  They light fine, ring in fine, etc.  They like the KEY MODE type of ease of being able to answer for their Boss and then tell them that Mr. Smith is on the line.  He then just presses the blinking Appearance key which she put on hold from her phone.  (It was his  App key in the first place; she just answered it on her phone on her Bridged app of his).

So all is well, UNTIL she gets a call on her own extension number (the actual extension of her phone).  If she is on a Bridged App key for one of the bosses and a call comes to her own extension, it rings audibly, but there is no visual indication at all.  No button to press, nothing.  Even if you dump the call you are on with the Bridged App key of the boss and press all 3 of her CA keys, there is dial tone and the phone is still ringing (until VM coverage kicks in).  Where is this call????

I would like to avoid the coverage app buttons since I can only have one and it doesn't look "key mode" like for ease of the Boss just pressing the blinking lights.  The park buttons didn't go over well, kind of at a loss.

If this just worked the way I think it should, it would be perfect.

FYI:  8.0.18 and the following items have been tweaked under the receptionist's telephony tab:

Y= checked.  N= not checked.  If I don't list it, it's not checked.

Call waiting on:  Y

Answer call waiting on hold:  Y

Ringing Line Preference :  N  (they were accidentaly answering all bridged app keys set to ;99)

Idle line pref:  Y

Delayed, answer preselect, Reserve last, All set to N (unchecked).

Why don't you use user keys on the DSS module.
It will do the same and is much easier then those appearances.

Not sure I understand.  How would this do the same?

This will look like key mode?  She wants to answer his CA button, put it on hold so it blinks and then let him just press it at his desk to take the call.  Frankly PARK buttons would do this, but they are against this for some reason.

I actually just tried coverage appearance and have the same issue.  I think this is going to end up being a bug in this release.  If someone has a call appearance button on their phone, they should still be able to answer their own extension when they have an outside caller on the Coverage appearance button.  I basically have the same issue either way.

Still, would like to hear more about your DSS concept.

Thanks!

I think I misunderstood I guess.
but with user buttons you must use park if it needs to be put on hold.

I would not be surprised to find a bridged appearance issue. BA issues have existed seemingly since first released as a feature. SA and user buttons and Park are the best method. Convincing die-hard users of line appearance to convert can be difficult indeed.

Thanks all.  I am upgrading to 42 build, though I know it won't help.  It seems to be the 9650C phone, I have no issue at all when I use the same setup on a 1616 with a BM32.

This issue is also evident on my system in my lab which is R7 so if I have it at a site running 8 and on my site running 7, I think it's more a firmware related bug to that model phone.

I will let you know if the newest 8 just happens to fix it.  I may also approach AVAYA about it.

Thanks

Latest 8.0.42 did not help.  We are abandoning 9650C phones and going with 1616+BM32.  Work fine.  Go figure!

Bit of a price difference though smile
